This has been both a philosophical question as well as a theological one. Some Church doctrine has been built around the premise that the soul is immortal from birth. But...is it really? Even though this involves philosophy, I will be looking at it from a biblical perspective.
Here is some food for thought:
1) Where is immortality explicitly mentioned in the Bible?
2) Who gives it?
3) What are the implications if all souls are immortal?
4) What if immortality was conditional on faith in Jesus?
